The Society of St Paul Philippines-Macau Province, through its St. Paul Bible Ministry, successfully conducted the 11th St. Paul National Bible Quiz (SPNBQ) 2024. Themed "The Word: Inspiring Minds, Igniting Hearts," the event brought together fourteen finalist teams from across the Philippines at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on the fourth day of the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF).
The event commenced with a Bible enthronement led by Fr. Dindo Purto SSP and Fr. Gil Alinsangan SSP, invoking the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Fr. Angelo Paolo Asprer SSP, Creative Director and Bible Ministry Coordinator of ST PAULS, highlighted in his opening remarks that “the true Bible contest is reflected in our daily lives and how we live out the Word of God.”
The day was a celebration of faith and talent, not just a competition. The Reality Fam Dance Company energized the crowd with their dynamic performance, while Ms. Mariel Lim moved the audience with her soulful song renditions. The first part of the contest, covering the easy and average rounds, was hosted by Ms. Michelle Sto. Tomas from St. Paul Seminary Foundation and Cl. Vinz Anthony Aurellano SSP from ST PAULS Creative. The difficult round was hosted by Mr. Romar Chuca, a content creator and comedian, and Ms. Mariz Umali, a television journalist and inspirational speaker.
Following the three rounds and additional tie-breaking questions, the Grand Champion was awarded to the Sisters of Mary Girlstown-Cebu, represented by Mary Sofia Camay and Kerey May Angela Igdoy. The 1st Runner-Up went to the Sisters of Mary of Banneux Inc.-Silang, represented by Michelia Mae Dayongnan and Charel Galbin. St. Joseph College-Olongapo Inc., represented by Ethan Matthew Mariano and Edmundo Legaspi Jr., secured the 2nd Runner-Up.
All participants were honored with medals and tokens of appreciation, while the top three winners received medals, trophies, and cash prizes. In closing, the Society of St. Paul expressed sincere gratitude to the sponsors, benefactors, and everyone who played a role in the event’s success, with special thanks to the partnership with Asia Pacific College (APC). Both the Bible quiz participants and attendees conveyed their deep appreciation for the Society of St. Paul’s ongoing dedication to its biblical apostolate.
